The birth of my infatuation or perhaps I should say my obsession with photography began in the mid nineties. Then my main subjects were my children, since my children have left the nest for many years now my passion for photography has never faded but rather grown in a different direction. I have discovered that beauty is never ending, taking on forms that I could have never imagined. I feel blessed that my world has expanded through photography and hope my passion never weakens.

Back Down RT. 8

I headed back down RT. 8  towards Maysville again today, I wanted to go back and check out St. Anne Convent to get a closer look at the cemetery, I also thought I would head a little bit further to see what else was down the road. I have to say that I came across a couple more surprises.

This is what was inside the crypt.

 More from the cemetery.
I know statues of Jesus are not suppose to creep you out but this one does.

I found this place...I'm not sure what it is but I found this a little off RT. 8. It was so unusual. More photos below. I believe it is called Oneonta, Kentucky. If anyone has any information I would certainly appreciate an info.

Just love this old phone booth.

One of two house on the street. The street did continue on but it became gravel and I wasn't convinced that it wasn't private property.

A Rest For Pets

Jessie checking out all the birds flying in to feed.

Jasper also checking out the birds.
Not sure what Jasper got into out in the woods but for some reason he has white specks all over his head.

Luke, Roof and the Ladder

Here is the story behind the pictures below. Before we got Jasper the black lab mix, we already had Luke. Luke is suppose to be a pure white kitty but since he is an outdoor cat we rarely get to enjoy ever seeing his pure white coat until after his bath. I'm getting off track, anyway, when Jasper arrived we figured out that he was about 2 years old and never been fixed, this left him a little more aggressive then we wanted, especially towards Luke. It was only a matter of days and Jasper had attacked Luke, this is not acceptable in my house. We started looking for another home for Jasper. After weeks of not being able to relocate him and carrying Luke up and down the stairs we had to come up with another plan. So we decided to get Jasper neutered. I have learned that behavioral changes may occur after this type of procedure so we hoped that this might cure his aggressiveness. While he was gone we decided that if Jasper did remain with us we had to do something for Luke, which brings us to the first photo below, we made a cat door in the upstairs window. We only had to show Luke once what to do and he took it from there. We've always had a ladder that we use in case of a fire so we thought simple enough Luke can just climb down the ladder. Well for some reason only known to Luke he would not go down the ladder. He decided that it was much easier to go up the roof then down the roof on the other side (picture 2) so we placed a ladder on that side of the roof and presto Luke came down the ladder. No issues, no problems. Even after the ice storm Luke still manages the roof and the ladder. What a cat!

So what happened with Jasper and Luke? Well when we brought Jasper home the next day we found Luke for the first time in weeks walking down the stairs. He went right up to Jasper, Jasper sniffed, Luke gave him kisses and they have been best friends ever since. Whew!!!

It Was a Dark and Gloomy Day

I headed outside with the dogs with the intent of photographing them, they did not want to cooperate at all so I decided to photograph what was above me. I have to admit that I really ended up liking these more then I thought I would.

St. Anne Convent

As I was heading down Rt. 8 I came across this Convent that I had absolutely no idea that existed. The building itself reminded me of a mental institution, I've watched way to many Ghost Adventure shows. I wasn't going to ride up the very long driveway but the view was just to tempting to just turn around and leave.
As I approached the darkened building I knew that I had made the right decision. I have no history about the building but was amazed at the lack of use. I saw only a couple of lights on which makes me wonder how many really reside in this building.

It wasn't until I drove to the back of the parking lot did I notice the cemetery, it was creepy yet beautiful. You almost felt a peace come over you. Those that were buried here knew that they were spending eternity with the ones they loved and God.

I plan on returning very soon and probably often, the grounds are open to the public as is the gardens and wetlands. What a gem of a place, a definite must to visit.

RT. 8 Towards Maysville

I started out my day rather late so I had to cut short my photo trip because of the impending darkness. I was so disappointed that I am heading back down RT. 8 aka Mary Ingles Highway tomorrow to find more subjects. I thought this was going to turn out to be a bust but holy crap I couldn't believe all the possibilities. Can't wait!
Is this not a great barn door? Love It!!! Okay I know your enthusiasm does not rate as high as mine but wow.
This was found off of RT.8 on 8 mile Rd. I didn't even know we had an 8 Mile Rd.

I think a knock on the door to the owner is due, I would like to check out the inside too.

Do Not Try This At Home...I Mean On The Road

Heading down the cut in the hill. What amazes me most about this photo is the fact that I didn't have to straighten it. Wouldn't recommend trying this at 55mph especially when you are driving.
Almost looks like a pano shot.
