The birth of my infatuation or perhaps I should say my obsession with photography began in the mid nineties. Then my main subjects were my children, since my children have left the nest for many years now my passion for photography has never faded but rather grown in a different direction. I have discovered that beauty is never ending, taking on forms that I could have never imagined. I feel blessed that my world has expanded through photography and hope my passion never weakens.

We Win!!!

Congratulations to the Cincinnati Reds for winning their home opener 7-6!!!

Today Is Feel Sorry For Myself Day. Tomorrow Back To Normal

This has nothing to do with what my blog is about but I got a little bit of bad news this morning. I went to the Doc's yesterday to check up on how my sugar level is doing (I have type 2 diabetes) my sugar is down to 205, my sugar level was tested in the morning and after fasting, that's not good at all, although a 175 points less then what I was originally diagnosed with a couple of months ago. Soooooo they are increasing my meds, If I don't smarten up more insulin will soon become a part of my life, I want nothing to do with that or these damn pills. More walks with the camera!!!

Not only is the Cincinnati Reds having opening day this week but the best news, photography wise, is that the first night game will end with a big bang. You guessed it, FIREWORKS!!! I'll be at my usual spot this Saturday taking photos. Of course I'll be posting those, just in case you were asking yourself.

Just a sample of what is to come.

Fun Fact - William Howard Taft - 27th President of the United States, born in Cincinnati in 1857. If your ever in the City a must place to visit is the Taft Museum. www.taftmuseum.org

Race Street

As I was heading down Central Parkway I quickly passed by this mural, my first thought was "a mural of W.C. Fields?" I had to make a U turn and discovered how wrong I was. I am assuming this individual is some prominent Cincinnati figure but I have absolutely no idea. If I find out I'll certainly let you know.

So Spunky and I ended our little trip in Covington, KY, I thought Spunky would enjoy seeing the Paul Brown Stadium, which is behind Spunky, I was right, he was so thrilled.

Spunky's New Adventure-My New Travel Companion

Our electricity went out today, Spunky got bored quickly so I told him I would take him to the big city so he can help me take some photographs. I'm working on the photos now so check back soon. You can tell by his eyes that he was so excited to be in Cincinnati.

It's the Weekend

What does that mean? Heading into Cincinnati to take more photographs. Stay tuned.

Rant #2

As you may or may not know I have some pet peeves when it comes to photography, the first one was posting photos of blurry pictures, this next one I came across is not only annoying but disgusting. Again you may think that is soooooo adorable however......please don't post a photograph of your child picking his or her nose. Again, no matter how adorable you may think it is, it's pretty gross. Although I gave a photographic example in Rant #1 I will gladly refrain from doing so now, not that I had an example ready.

Happy St. Patty's Day

Remember to be responsible, don't drink and drive. Someone out there loves you.

Yep I know, someone has to be the killjoy.

Homeless?

Taken while I was at Sawyer Point photographing the Ohio River. I thought at first that this might be a homeless person but looking at the photo again I am not so sure. I couldn't find any belongings near him, anyway I hope someone wakes him up before the water reaches him. Ya think I'm kidding?

Downtown Cincinnati 4th Street

So after driving around taking almost a 100 photographs of the flood I decided to head into downtown. I'm finding that taking photographs of the streets is a lot easier sitting in my car, oh and a little safer.

Walk About Through Mainstrasse

So to make a long story short, I have to start walking, doc's orders, so if I have to walk I'm taking my camera with me. This time I took along my point and shoot. If a point shoot wasn't so convenient I wouldn't bother with it all, the quality of the pictures and the fact I can't shoot in RAW irritates me but sometimes when I'm out and about alone, especially walking, I just don't feel comfortable taking the dslr with me.

These two photos are taken of an old church that was renovated into a lounge. I have to go back and take a peek inside.

Some restaurants idea of wishful thinking. Tomorrow snow flurries, not exactly a good day to eat outside, think you may be a month or two early. IMO

Can you feel the German influence?

Just might have to think about stopping in one day. Never to old for a tatoo. (UPDATE) I was going through my blog when I reread this post...how does someone spell tattoo wrong (I'm referring to myself) when the word is right in front of your face. I could have corrected it, never said a word but sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself.
Some photographs scream...SPRING PLEASE!!
My first try at street photography. He looks so lonely.

A little hope that Spring is just around the corner.

Welcome To My First Follower

I finally have my first follower. YAY! Thank you Christie.

Rant #1 As I Am Sure I Will Have More

Why do people post photos that are so blurry you can't even begin to see what they are photographing? I mean c'mon, I don't care how cute your kid is it's just not worth posting. I couldn't find an example of my own so I had to blur my daughter on purpose. The only thing that this photo does to me is make my eyes hurt.

Note to those who do this...we don't want to see your blurry photos, no matter how adorable you think it is.

Even though my daughter is pretty blurry in this photo, she is really adorable.

Ever Wonder

Ever wonder what happens to all the debris and trash that gets forced into the river during a flood? I think Finks Restaurant knows. Hope nothing creepy gets tangled up in all that mess. Oh come on, I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking that thought.

Ohio River

Thought I would head down to the river today. I heard that it was reaching flood stage so I wanted to check it out for myself. I have seen it higher but not sure if it has crested yet. Still a little impressive.

The photo on the left I shot this morning, the one on the right was from last week.

A Reminder

If you photograph as much as I do this is a friendly reminder to BACK UP YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS....just saying.
