The birth of my infatuation or perhaps I should say my obsession with photography began in the mid nineties. Then my main subjects were my children, since my children have left the nest for many years now my passion for photography has never faded but rather grown in a different direction. I have discovered that beauty is never ending, taking on forms that I could have never imagined. I feel blessed that my world has expanded through photography and hope my passion never weakens.

Cincinnati Reds Firework Friday Last of the Season

I headed up to Riverboat Row where I've been taking the majority of my fireworks, not as many photographers this time which really surprised me since it was the last show of the season. I am not as happy with the photos this time, I just couldn't seem to really get a good focus, been having trouble with my eyes lately, time for new glasses. The Reds won by the way, I wonder if the win took them out of last place? I doubt it, I have lived in Cincinnati area for about 8 years now, the Reds had one season that looked promising until the All Star game, then went down hill as usual. Hard to live near a city where all the pro teams really just suck.

The Family

It's a little difficult to pin point the date but I believe this photo dates around 1964, possibly early spring 1965. One of the rare few I have when I was a little girl.

From the looks of it we were probably returning from church. My mother loved her hats back then, at 86 she still rarely leaves the house without one on. As for myself, not a single hat in the closet. Must have had my fill as a child. Looking at the picture, this is how we dressed every Sunday for church, you are hard pressed to find anyone in church these days that doesn't have a pair of jeans on. Oh well, God doesn't judge you on your clothes.

Dated 1979, I was still quite young myself. My daughter Christie on the left with her best friend Danielle.

Cincinnati Reds Firework Friday

Fireworks are a lot of fun to photograph, at first I was a little intimated but after the first try it really isn't difficult to do, I thought I would get the practice in for the big fireworks show in September, over Labor Day weekend, which is when Cincinnati has its' largest fireworks display, you will find both sides of the river filled with over 500,000 people. The first year I moved here Greg brought me to see the fireworks, I have to admit I was a little bit bias, after all how can you beat any firework show when you've seen them in Boston. I will be the first to admit when I am wrong, Cincinnati fireworks display has got to be the best in country and when you sit up close & personal like we did, it is just breathtaking. After venturing twice, Greg & I stopped going, I just couldn't handle all the people anymore, I'll watch the fireworks from Devou Park, the second best place to watch the fireworks but only a 3 minute trip home.

Cincinnati Day Tripper

I rarely venture to the Ohio side, which is really a shame, Cincinnati is actually a beautiful city. The first photo is that of the Purple People Bridge, hard to tell the color from a B&W, although even in color the bridge, when painted for the first time, was extremely purple, unfortunately it was only a matter of a few years or so before the bridge faded to a light blue. The bridge is designed now for foot traffic only.

The next two photos are that of the Serpentine Wall at Sawyer Point. I'm embarrassed to say that it was my first visit. I've missed a lot. It is not a very crowded area but a great place to sit by the Ohio River & watch all the boats.
