The birth of my infatuation or perhaps I should say my obsession with photography began in the mid nineties. Then my main subjects were my children, since my children have left the nest for many years now my passion for photography has never faded but rather grown in a different direction. I have discovered that beauty is never ending, taking on forms that I could have never imagined. I feel blessed that my world has expanded through photography and hope my passion never weakens.

Elk Lake

Here is a picture of Elk Lake in Owenton, Kentucky. It is a nice community situated on a man made lake. I would like to come back here after the leaves have fallen, I bet the lake area is beautiful.

Owenton, Kentucky

Went to Owenton, Kentucky today, was really nice to get away, came across these Texas Longhorn. Click on the photo to have a better look at them. Thought they were beautiful animals. Wanted to get a closer look but that meant stepping on private property, not to mention that the fencing really didn't look all that secure. Curious, if they live in Kentucky are they now Kentucky Longhorns?

My Babies of the Non Human Kind

Meet Jasper, Jessie & Luke

Still really crappy around here weather wise, hoping for some sun soon, thought I would take some pictures of my little babies. First photo below is Jasper, he is a black lab mix, we rescued him from an old gentlemen who went into senior housing but couldn't take him with him, his original name was Bob, couldn't handle that since my brother is Bob as well.

The middle photo is Jessie, a full bread german shepherd, we bought her from a breeder, she was the last of the litter and worth every penny, she is so much fun to play with, I hope she never grows up.

The last photo is Luke, he found us, he showed up on our doorstep, he was so tiny then, we thought perhaps he was about 6 months old at the time, we tried to find his home but no one ever claimed him, he is a great cat to have around and loves to play with the dogs, they all get along great.

Another Rainy Day

Its' been a crappy day today, actually it has been a real crappy week. Did manage to take a picture of some deer in the side yard while the sun came out this afternoon, ever so briefly. Tomorrow is suppose to be a much better day so I thought I would head to the city streets to take some photos.

17 September 2009

Been a rather uneventful day so far, thought I would take some pictures of my yard. The first two pictures are of my side yard, the last two are pictures of my front yard. I am waiting for the leaves to fall so I can get a picture of the cabin, hard to see it this time of year.

Not much out there today. We have a lot of animals living out in the woods, deer, wild turkey, coyotes, red fox, barred owls, skunks, raccoons, snakes, chipmunks, mice. The last three we have had bunk with us in the house, ewwwwwwww.

Around Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati

Well it has been a rather crappy week, my computer crashed. I did manage to have a backup of most of my photos that I took since getting my dslr but lost the last 4 months. I have to learn to quit saying that I'll do a backup tomorrow. Now I'll make sure I backup at least once a week. Let this be a lesson. Oh well, so I have started to retake a lot of the photos I lost. I have to admit sometimes the second time around is a good thing. I am going to head back to Cincinnati & to Sawyer Point this weekend, even though Oktoberfest is this weekend I am hoping that Sawyer Point will be pretty empty. I took some photos of the Serpentine Wall and the Purple People Bridge (which at least I am lucky enough to have them on here and my flickr page)a couple of months ago, I lost them in the crash, they turned out great so I hope I can achieve the same results. Maybe I'll try a different view this time. We'll see.
