The birth of my infatuation or perhaps I should say my obsession with photography began in the mid nineties. Then my main subjects were my children, since my children have left the nest for many years now my passion for photography has never faded but rather grown in a different direction. I have discovered that beauty is never ending, taking on forms that I could have never imagined. I feel blessed that my world has expanded through photography and hope my passion never weakens.

Cincinnati Reds Fireworks 22-Jul-11

Boy did I mess up big this time around. I wanted to capture the fireworks a little differently, I wanted to try and capture multiple fireworks in one photograph, meaning more then 3 fireworks in one photograph which is not my usual way. So I set up the camera as I normally do but this time I left the shutter open for at least 10 seconds in many of my attempts. What was I thinking? Typically this would have worked perfectly if not for one thing...I forget to step down the aperture. Grrrrr, it had to have been the heat and high humidity that fried my brain. When I got home I found out that I over exposed many of these photos. Again grrrrr. I know what your thinking that PP (post processing) should help with over exposing, that is not the point, I usually do very little PP and try to rely on what little skill I have to create the photograph that is really close to what I want. Oh well I will get another shot soon, thankfully I only have to wait a week before trying this again.

Guess What Tomorrow Night Is?

Woot Woot!!! Firework Friday is here again. I will complain though sorry, not looking forward to this one as much as I have in the past. Why you ask?   IT IS FREAKIN HOT OUT THERE!

Update on Departure

Well I have had to postpone my departure until July 30th. I am so glad, with this heat I would have hated to have to travel. Next week will be cooler. YAY!!!

Leaving For a Bit

It looks as though I might be taking a break from the blog. I need to leave town for about a month. Not something I really want to do but it seems it is necessary. Worse is leaving the family behind. UGH!!! Will be back on Aug. 21st. Not Happy.

C'MON ALREADY

These kind of temperatures should just be illegal. Add 60% - 70% humidity and it spells out total yuck.
9 Weeks + 3 days = Number of days until Fall

Not a Good Night at All

So tonight I thought I would head back out to Eden Park and Mt. Adams to take some night time photos of the city. One spot in Eden Park that I really wanted to photograph has such a nice angle of the city. Well I learned 3 things tonight not to do when trying to photograph at night around the city.

1. Never go out on a Saturday night.
2. Never go out on a Saturday night in the summer.
3. Never go out on a Saturday night in the summer when the Reds are playing.
Every where I went I ran into way to many people or no place to park. Tomorrow I think the Reds are playing a day game plus since it the next day is a work day I might have more success with a lot less people, so tomorrow night I will try again.

Fall

10 Weeks until Fall. That's right I said it. Can't wait.

Happy Birthday Dad

Today would have been my father's 87th birthday. So hard to believe that he passed 23 years ago. Wish I had a photo of him scanned into the computer. Happy Birthday Dad, you've been extremely missed.

More From Krohn Conservatory

Krohn Conservatory

Around Town

This morning I decided to get out and photograph. We have a smog alert out so I thought I would get out there before it got bad. I also ended up stopping at Krohn's Conservatory which was a lot fun, will be adding those photos later.

Photo above is the Licking River. I'm not sure who won the rights to name the river but I think someone forgot to take their meds that day.

The above is my street, the morning fog was still hanging around a bit.

You can tell by the above photo that the smog was just starting to get thick. A good time to start heading home.
