The birth of my infatuation or perhaps I should say my obsession with photography began in the mid nineties. Then my main subjects were my children, since my children have left the nest for many years now my passion for photography has never faded but rather grown in a different direction. I have discovered that beauty is never ending, taking on forms that I could have never imagined. I feel blessed that my world has expanded through photography and hope my passion never weakens.

Come Join Me!

It took three years but I finally used up all my photo storage space. I have the option of purchasing more storage but since I already have a flickr site it just isn't logical to spend more money on basically the same photos. For now it just makes sense to create another blog on blogger. So come check it out I'm now at......

http://aroundnorthernkentucky.blogspot.com/

Hope to see you there.

It's Official

After 51 years I finally joined (not by choice) the "I got stung by a bee" club. OUCHY!!! Then the stupid bee had the audacity to come into my home, the dogs and I had a little fun. Can't get stung twice.

Behringer-Crawfor Museum

After we left Newport we found out that the Behringer-Crawford Museum was offering free admission Sunday. I have lived 1/2 mile from this museum and have never gone in, actually I have lived in Northern Kentucky for 11 years and have never been to the Newport Aquarium either, shame, shame shame, the Aquarium is on my list of places to go, I might wait until the fall when all the kiddies are back in school though. I wasn't allowed to use my flash so I upped my ISO, surprisingly I didn't get as much noise as I thought I would. Check out the link on the left to learn about the museum. Below is just a small sample of what we saw.

What is it about a train that can turn normal adults into little kids? I had to press every button on the panel to see what it would do...twice. That was so much fun. Ahhhh the little things in life.

Italian Fest Newport Kentucky

We were sitting around today, letting another beautiful day go by when we decided to get off our butts and head to Newport to check out the Italian Fest, I know I said yesterday that we were not going to go but what the heck.

I tried to talk honey into going down the slide but when he saw these three he said no way.

This is a kiddie ride that took you pretty far up, well pretty far up for a 6 year old. I loved it, it sounded just like a helicopter. Shaking head, I need to get out more.
This little girl was having such fun. I'm to old even for these little rides. I'm pathetic.

I really wanted to put some type of caption for the above photo but thought better of it. Bad, bad, bad Kelly.

Another Round of Fireworks

What a lazy day I've had, you would think on a day like today one would be out enjoying the weather or at least uploading photos to my blog but not me. Lazy, lazy, lazy!!!

I wasn't really happy with the fireworks last night, not so much the way they turned out photographically, I mean the event itself, was just lacking. Don't get me wrong I haven't been to a show yet that was really disappointing but it just didn't give me that WOW factor. No matter I'll be back again in 2 weeks.

I'm not planning on going but the Italian Fest is happening in Newport this weekend.

Boats on the Ohio River

Okay here is the deal, I went to upload 10 photos from tonight's firework show and not realizing how freakin tired I was I ended up uploading the wrong week. so for now this is it because I need to go bed.

Cincinnati Museum

I took a quick trip to photograph the Cincinnati Museum.

Smale Park, Cincinnati Ohio

I finally found a parking space YAY!!! Let me rephrase that, I finally found a parking space I didn't have to pay for. YAY!!! I didn't visit all of the park but I do plan on doing that at some point. I have to admit this is one beautiful park, I can't wait to see the rest when it is finished. The first two photos ended up being a bit of a disappointment, only because you can't really see the water flowing.

The two photos above the water is a little clearer.

Now these three photos above turned out excellent. I was able to capture the water in motion.

A different perspective of the Roebling Bridge.

My Grandchild

I can't believe that this is really happening. Sniff, sniff, tissue please. How many toes do you see?

Is It Just Me?

Or is this guy having a conversation with a piece of art?

To the City!

Today I will applaud mother nature for such a fantastic day, if you stayed in the house today well, shame on you. I jumped in the car with no destination in mind, I just knew that I couldn't stay in the house one more minute, next thing I know I am hearing the steel grates under my tires (crossing the Roebling Bridge)and I am headed for the city. I found a parking spot, figures, although it wasn't a legal one but no one seemed to care.
I ended up across the river from Riverside Drive, KY my favorite street. I am standing in front of the Great American Ballpark. That's a switch.
I have passed by this paddle wheel 100 times, this is my first photo of it. Shaking head in disbelief.
I turned around and bam the Great American Tower smacks me upside the head.

P&G Towers and park.

Over the Ohio Side

Thinking that it was a cold evening it was a great opportunity to head to Smale Park, my idea was perfect, not a soul there, all the lights on, it was a photo waiting to be taken, then it started to rain...SAY WHAT? Weather forecast mentioned no rain just clouds then partial clearing (great now I sound like a weather person)I was not going let that stop me, I knew the rain wouldn't last so with no cash or credit card on me I searched for free parking to wait it out. That idea would have been a good one if it wasn't Friday night...crap, around and around I went finding nothing. I knew I should have brought cash, I would have gladly paid 5 bucks to park in the garage, another attempt failed. I starting to think that I am not suppose to photograph the park at all, I'm determined, I will succeed.

I wasn't going home so I decided to head up to Eden Park, another fabulous idea as no one was there, I hope we get more of these cold evenings. The first four photos below were taken there, underexposed so I'll have to make another attempt at some point, I would have gladly stayed longer but it started to rain....again, back to the car I went.

I really like the above photo but it is just way underexposed.
As I was headed back down the hill I passed Krohn's and saw this huge butterfly, so of course I had to photograph it.
I turned the camera around and thought how much fun would it be to photograph car trails, so I did. The green streak that you see was from the light of a cab, I'm going to have to do more of that.

Looking below. Peek - a - boo. No ones privacy was violated.
I was heading towards Columbia Parkway when all of a sudden the car made this sharp right turn up to Mount Adams. The five photos above where taken near the Rookwood Restaurant.
