Today I talked Greg into letting me practice panning. I have as yet attempted this photography technique. The first two photos were my first attempt, I was not happy at all with the results, I decided to let the camera decide on the settings which was my first mistake, actually it was my only mistake. The bottom two I talked Greg into letting me try again so out we went back up to Devou Park, he is such a good sport. As you can see my second attempt was much better. The slower shutter speed made the background extremely blurry. I tried 1/8th shutter speed on my tripod but I just couldn't get it to work.
The birth of my infatuation or perhaps I should say my obsession with photography began in the mid nineties. Then my main subjects were my children, since my children have left the nest for many years now my passion for photography has never faded but rather grown in a different direction. I have discovered that beauty is never ending, taking on forms that I could have never imagined. I feel blessed that my world has expanded through photography and hope my passion never weakens.

Just Hanging Out
I can't believe that I was going to have a weekend go by and not take any photos so, I decided to hop in the car before it got to dark and drove around a little bit.
Paul Brown Stadium.
Great American Ball Park.
I don't think Fink's restaurant will ever open again. It is really looking rather bad. It has been so long I don't even remember why it closed down.
Unfortunately the crown wasn't lit up yet but I still like the photo.
Wonder where these are headed?
A quick drive through Cincinnati.

To the City
I realize that it has been far to long since I have ventured into the city. I do believe a trip is in order. When you ask? (Like so many of you read my blog) Tomorrow of course.

In With the Old
Every once in a while as you may recall I have used picnik which is a photo editing program that is or I should say was available online, if I am not mistaken I believe it was also a part of Google anyway, they developed another photo editing program called picmonkey (where do they come up with these names?) that I have to admit I may actually pay for, it is free for now so have a look it is kinda fun. The photos below were edited in picmonkey, I kinda like them.

Having a Blast Around Independence, Kentucky
A friend of mine that really knows the area took me on a tour of the Independence area. My friend is a native and boy did she know the places to go. It is so much fun when you know someone who likes to do the same things. Well she likes to ride around site seeing and I like to photograph what I see, it was a win win situation. I was totally amazed at the all the dilapidated barns and abandon homes. Just my kind of photography.

Cincinnati Reds Home Night Opener Fireworks 2012
Unfortunately my firework photos did not turn out well. When the lights went out I thought I had taken the lens out of auto focus and I didn't so I had to manually focus. My eyes are not as good as they use to be so the photos came out slightly blurry. I still have 9 more tries this season to get it right.

Abandon Incinerator
After I was done taking photos of flowers I thought I would take a trip to the old abandon incinerator. Last time I was there they posted no trespassing signs all over the place now they have the area open to bikers, of course I had to venture back once again. The first time I was there I had no idea that the building had a basement so I had to check it out, the smell was so bad I thought for sure someone had placed a dead body somewhere, I have to admit though it would certainly be a good location for that. I didn't have my boots on so I didn't risk walking around in the basement, the photos are taken from just outside.
