The birth of my infatuation or perhaps I should say my obsession with photography began in the mid nineties. Then my main subjects were my children, since my children have left the nest for many years now my passion for photography has never faded but rather grown in a different direction. I have discovered that beauty is never ending, taking on forms that I could have never imagined. I feel blessed that my world has expanded through photography and hope my passion never weakens.

River Flooding Northern Kentucky

RT. 8 Northern Kentucky

Today was such a great day to go out and photograph, nearly reaching 60 degrees I saw tons of motorcycles, bicycles and believe it or not 2 cars with their tops down. I headed down RT 8 in Northern Kentucky which runs side by side to the Ohio River. These were just a few of the barns I came across. All in black / white, the way barns should be photographed, IMO.

Foggy Day

It was such a great foggy day that I had to grab my camera and head on out. All photos taken are in B/W.
Cityscape, yes I mean cityscape. You can almost make out Paul Brown Stadium, the city is out there. Taken from Devou Park
Devou Park Kentucky. This poor tree has seen a lot of bad weather.
Roebling Bridge Cincinnati in the background.

Great American Tower (or at least part of it) also Great American Ball Park.

Heading on home.
Down my street. I love this street except when it snows.

Little Trip to the Mall

Today I decided to head on out to the mall to buy a toaster.....
When I came across one of the shelters in the park with a new roof. Last winter they fixed and replaced a lot of the shingles, so why not just replace all the shingles at once? Just saying....
This strip mall use to be full until for what ever reason all the tenants left, a year later with it almost completely empty they have started to do some major work. I hope it's more stores and not office's.

This use to be our favorite restaurant, we would go once or twice a week, then they raised their prices and I just couldn't justify paying $10.00 for a plate of pasta. I still recommend it if you don't mind paying more.
ended up behind this old Toyota 4Runner, I didn't even know they use to look like this. Can't imagine how many miles this has on it. I like it though.

This is our local outdoor mall. The only type of mall I will go to. My other favorite outdoor mall is in Columbus. I haven't been there in years, makes for a long day when you live almost 100 miles away but when I have the extra cash to spend I will go back. Anyone ever hear of Joseph-Beth?

My final destination, I just love this store. You'll pay a little more then Walmart but I can guarantee it will last longer. A lot of times cheaper isn't better, I've learned that the hard way to many times.
Here is my toaster okay so not really a toaster but instead of buying a toaster I came home with this. My honey took one look at couldn't stop laughing, I said I wanted a good toaster, it just came with a few extras. Oh I almost forgot, it does make awesome toast. Not to mention you can also roast a chicken and broil a steak. YUM!!!

My Babies

Taken in March of 2008. I can't believe how much bigger they are. They are so sweet.

One of the first things I learned with the camera was how to take photos in the snow. If not done right the snow will look grayish. The camera tends to underexpose snow.

It took me nearly a year and a half before I would liberate myself to manual and only shooting in RAW. Well better late than never.

Luke in February of 2008. He looks whiter. What a beauty!

A Look Back

So as I am sitting here bored out of my freak'n mind I thought I would venture back into the archives of my photos to see what I have forgotten. The photo below was taken on Christmas day 2007 the second photo I shot with my brand new digital camera. 4 years later the yard still looks like a mess.

2007 with camera in automatic mode. This is how my camera saw it. I can't get over how skinny the driveway was.
2012 with the camera in manual mode. This is how I saw it.

To funny, the driveway width has increased in 4 years. The big tree on the ground to the left has been removed. A lot of the underbrush has really grown in. Time to go see what else I can come up with.

Rest For Pets

Little Jasper did not want to be outside. He doesn't like getting wet or muddy so he wont leave the cement slab. He is so silly.

2 Days After the Ice Storm

The ice is starting to melt but not fast enough for me.
Might be a little hard to see but the driveway is a sheet of ice. Hopefully it will be all clear before work tomorrow.
Not even the birds wanted to be out today. They haven't even showed up at the feeding station yet.

My Subie After the Storm

Of course the storm photos wouldn't be complete without showing all the ice on my car too.

I'm not going to be able to open up those doors until the ice melts.

Just in case you are wondering this is my 1988 Subaru GT with only 34,000 miles on it. Yep you read it right. She is in beautiful condition. So far my highest offer received has been $5,000. Not for sale baby.

After the Storm Around the Yard

So we had a weeeee bit of an ice storm over night. We are stranded in the cabin. We can't even go down the steps to get to the cars. Note to self....Might be a good idea to buy ice melt. Hard to believe that tomorrow it will be in the upper 40's. Crazy winter if I have ever seen one.
Surprisingly we didn't lose electricity...yet. Wish I could head up to the park but the driveway is impossible.

UrbanCincy

I was checking my stats for my flickr site and found out that UrbanCincy used one of my photos. Although technically they should have really asked my permission first I will give them credit for linking it back to my site. It is actually a good site for Cincy info so I do recommend it.

January Thunderstorm

My driveway is filled with mud from where our septic line was dug up. Way to much rain.

Once it stops raining this is what I get to walk the dogs in. YUK!!!
