The birth of my infatuation or perhaps I should say my obsession with photography began in the mid nineties. Then my main subjects were my children, since my children have left the nest for many years now my passion for photography has never faded but rather grown in a different direction. I have discovered that beauty is never ending, taking on forms that I could have never imagined. I feel blessed that my world has expanded through photography and hope my passion never weakens.

Thunder Storm
We had one hell of a thunder storm this morning around 5:30ish, no photographs of it but certainly worth a mention. I usually will enjoy the lightning show from the comforts of my bed but when the sirens went off I had to get my butt out of bed, march downstairs and turn the television on. I was shocked that I actually got reception, we don't have cable so we have to pray to the tv reception gods in order to get a channel in. The weather person was talking about possible tornadoes which I found out this evening were to the south of us. May be that next time i'll take the warnings a little more seriously. This was like the third storm in the last few days. Guess it could be worse, with all the rain we had if it had been snow it would have been a lot of it.

Old Barn - Devou Park Kentucky-Downtown Cincinnati
I have to wonder about myself sometimes. I live in Devou Park and have passed by this old barn at least a 1000 times. The other day it was like being hit by a baseball bat, wow that is one old barn, found out when I started taking photos that it was actually 2 old barns. I am assuming this but I believe this barn has been in this location longer then Devou Park has existed. It is possible that the family that owned this barn were the ones that donated the land. An old house once stood here as well, my unfortunate mistake of not seeing the photographic potential before it was demolished by the town. Even though it was posted no trespassing I couldn't let that stop me from photographing it. Glad I did.
You can tell by all the horseshoes above the barn door the family felt it needed a lot of luck, hope they got it. The last photo of the series was taken in downtown Cincinnati. I didn't stay long this time, I really wasn't in the mood, parking wasn't easy. I did however, find out that I love taking photos of the city streets. Think i'll plan another visit to do that. If I plan for the morning it will be easier to take these photos standing in the middle of the street. I happen by this one while waiting for a red light, sitting in my car. Thankful my windshield was pretty clean.
Almost forgot, the gazebo is actually part of the Devou Park Golf Course. I've also found a couple other location that I would like to photograph the golf course as well. So more photographs to follow.

My Family
These are a couple of photographs that I took the night of my daughter's rehearsal dinner back in October. My photos really turned out rather bad but these two seem to be okay.
Starting on the left is my brother Rob, his partner David, next is Danielle whom I am hoping will be my future daughter-in-law, after that is the oh so beautiful and the most perfect daughter Christie, next to Christie is my handsome son Michael who better get off his butt and ask that second girl on his right to marry him and last but certainly not least my new brilliant son-in-law Jeff whom I am now noticing is exceptionally tall.

New Banner
This officially being my 100th post I thought I would celebrate by creating a banner at the top of my blog. I Created the banner with some of the photos I took in the last couple of days. Pretty snazzy I think.
Hanging Out In Downtown Cincinnati
Another beautiful day here, although slightly cooler, just didn't want to spend the day indoors. So I packed up the camera and headed downtown. I was a little surprised how crowded it was, parking was difficult if you wanted a space in the center which is where I wanted to be so I could walk around. I ended up driving all over downtown. Pretty much a safe city as long as you don't go beyond 9th street, I'll go up to 12th if someone is with me. The photos below are just a sampling of what I took. I've lived near Cincinnati for almost 10 years and it is by far my favorite city.

Happy Valentine's Day
Not my dog, as a matter of fact not even my photo but I thought it was cute. Oh when I say "not even my photo" it doesn't mean I stole it, I found it in the microsoft office clip art section.

Covington Kentucky
So I headed down to the river today, with camera in hand when I came upon, in my opinion, a rather strange happening. Maybe it is just me but who would want to go kayaking on the Ohio River in February? So as I watched I noticed a man with a microphone and a large professional movie camera. My second thought was that this had to be the George Clooney movie that they have been taping in the Cincinnati area for sometime now. This just had to be a scene from the movie. Not as impressed as I thought I should have been I took some photos anyway, went home started to go through my photos when I noticed the rather large piece of driftwood. I mean come on that thing is huge.
I love this door, it is built into the side of a small hill. I am sure it is used for storage but every time I see it I have this overwhelming urge to knock on it to see if someone opens the door. I have to admit that if it started to open I would also have an overwhelming urge to....run.

Happy Groundhog Day
I guess the little fella saw his shadow today which means that spring is just around the corner. Finding that hard to believe as I am looking out the window and watching the snow fall.
